Oxford University Press (OUP) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Karger Publishers. The transaction is expected to complete in December.
Following closing, this acquisition will see OUP welcome Karger to its wider organization, bringing together a shared commitment to quality and scholarly integrity, and extending the reach and impact of Karger’s leading academic and research publishing in medicine and health sciences.
OUP is one of the oldest and largest university press publishers in the world and a department of the University of Oxford. Karger is a highly regarded publisher with a long history of providing world-class resources for medicine and healthcare professionals. Founded in 1890 with a mission to connect people and science, it currently publishes almost 100 leading journals, and is widely recognized for the quality of its publishing programme with 82 of its journals indexed in the Science Citation Index with associated Impact Factor (IF) ranking. In addition, it publishes an extensive backlist of 9,000 books in medicine and health sciences and a range of innovative educational and outreach products for researchers, healthcare professionals, and industry partners.
